GINKAKUDO
GINKAKUDO, a store located in Philosopher's Path near Ginkaku-Ji Temple in Kyoto.
GINKAKUDO is a store based on the Philosopher's Path, where the walking path of the Biwa Lake Canal runs, and is known as the gateway of Ginkaku-Ji Temple.
Our selected products were not only originally designed by us, but we also have a modern, unique selection of products gathered from artists based in Kyoto and around Japan.
Ginkakuji Temple, a symbol of the Higashiyama Culture, was built by Ashikaga Yoshimasa, the 8th Shogun of the Muromachi Shogunate. The Higashiyama culture had a simple and refined taste and formed the Japanese sense of beauty, wabi, and sabi, which is still relevant today. Ginkakudo offers simple, modern, and unique products that incorporate this atmosphere into contemporary products such as glass, ceramics, leather goods, and silverware.
