来月6月より、闇の展示室から希望の展示室にて「キース・ヘリング：NYダウンタウン・ルネサンス」展を開催いたします。

本展では、 へリングが活動した1980年代ニューヨークにおける「アンダーグラウンド・カルチャー」「ホモエロティシズムとHIV・エイズ」「社会に生きるアート」「ニューヨークから世界へ」の4つの視点から、当館収蔵のキース・へリングコレクションを紐解きます。
ニューヨークで長らく保管され34年間公開されることなかった、日本初公開となる壁画「マウント・サイナイ病院のための壁画」の公開を含め、ヘリングが残したメッセージを、同時代を生きた写真家たちの記録写真や多くの資料と共に展示いたします。

Starting on June 3, the “Keith Haring: Downtown Renaissance” exhibition will be held at the Room of Darkness to Room of Hope. This exhibition will explore our collection held from four perspectives: “Underground Culture,” “Homosexuality and HIV/AIDS,” “Art in Society,” and “From New York to the World,” focusing on the 1980s New York where Haring was active.

The exhibition will feature the unveiling of a mural titled “Mural for Mount Sinai Hospital,” which has never been publicly displayed for 34 years, making it the first time it will be exhibited in Japan.Haring’s messages, along with archival photographs taken by photographers who lived during the same era and other materials, will also be displayed.
